We ensure our formulations meet the highest standards for quality and safety by vigorously testing for microconcerns using product, purity, and quality testing on individual ingredients and in-vitro testing on the finished inks.
Within our process we test over 4,000 substances to ensure the erasure of the following impurities, including, but not limited to: amines, heavy metals, & PAHS. We have ensured that each of our new ink lines exceed the mandated standards within the new updates of REACH regulations. The Directive 1907/2006/EC is the European Union Regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). This directive was amended by Regulation 2020/2081 to add tattoo and permanent make-up ink to the list of regulated products in Annex XVII. Ink Projects has reviewed the information provided by their materials suppliers, and checked through lab reports, and can confirm, that all their supplied inks are in full compliance with the regulations. However, since LUXE, LIMITLESS, and IMPERIAL meet both US and all regional standards, they’ll be offered globally once the European artists have been fully supported.
What is unique about LUXE by Perma Blend, IMPERIAL by Kuro Sumi, and World Famous Tattoo Ink’s LIMITLESS?
Each of the latest lines offer an array of new shades featuring brand new pigments, clean cosmetic ingredients, and high-quality formulations, created under the same rigorous first-rate standards you expect from us. Each ink was given a unique name to distinguish itself between the classic line, creating less confusion as to which inks satisfy the new EU regulations.
What are the price points for these new lines compared to the classic lines?
The new ink lines within each brand will be offered at a price point equivalent to the sourcing and quality of the ingredients used in the new pigments. The product lines were formulated with ingredients that came at a higher price point, to develop a line that meets REACH regulations. The production also required additional labor, R&D, raw material testing and a completely new set of labels to answer to the newly introduced regulations throughout the European Union.
What will be different about the artist’s experience using them?
Our mission is to continue to elevate the art of permanent makeup and tattooing. We’ve worked diligently to achieve REACH compliance without sacrificing the high-quality standards that we maintain for our existing product lines. However, since the new product lines were crafted using a variety of new ingredients, differences are expected. These differences are not regarding the quality and safety expected from the brand, but rather the behavior of the brand-new formulation. Due to the new ingredients used, slight adaptations are anticipated for the artists to adjust to their unique craft and client’s needs.
When will these LIMITLESS lines be on market?
The new ink lines are currently exclusively sold in the EU. However, since LUXE, LIMITLESS and IMPERIAL meet both US and all required regional standards, we’ll offer them globally once our European artists have been fully supported.
Are LUXE by Perma Blend, IMPERIAL by Kuro Sumi, and World Famous Tattoo Ink’s LIMITLESS lines REACH compliant?
We ensure the new line(s) meet all new EU requirements per REACH regulations. Our inks have been color calibrated for accuracy, vigorously tested for microconcerns throughout the entire manufacturing process, and tested by world renowned artists on performance, colour clarity and ease of use, all while adhering to the ISO 13485 quality control system.
If REACH regulations have been the standard you have used before to keep your pigments “safe,” why are all lines not in compliance? How do I know that the classic line is safe if the EU is saying these substances used in the classic line are banned?
Each region has their own designated health and safety requirements and no matter the regulations of those regions we are distributing to, we ensure our measures of health and safety exceed those baseline standards. All of our products undergo regular testing by third parties to confirm their safety and compliance with industry standards and applicable regulations.
What took so long to ensure compliance with the new regulations?
We needed to ensure before we brought the new product lines to market that, not only did our lines ensure compliance with these regulatory standards, but also that each ink underwent thorough testing before, during, and after their manufacturing. Now, after our diligent testing, we can bring to our artists a safe, durable, and effective product that matches our high standards and the expectations of our community.
What steps did you take to ensure compliance with these regulations?
Working with credited independent third parties, we have ensured that all sourced material follows these regulations and during manufacturing the rigorous testing these products will face will continue to eradicate any potential discrepancies. During manufacturing, our products go through intensive testing at each stage to ensure the erasure of any sources that may be restricted by the updated REACH regulations.
What steps do you take to ensure the safety of your products?
We pair with vetted labs and scientific institutions to measure the analytical quality of our products by performing regulatory requirement testing. Each ingredient before manufacturing receives strict product, purity, and quality testing and our finished inks receive invasive in-vitro testing. Throughout the duration of our process, we use the ISO 13485 Certified Quality Management System.
