Sitges is a beautiful coastal town just south of Barcelona (only 35 km away and 15 minutes from the airport), where stunning beaches and an incredible old town meet the surrounding mountains of a natural park.
A truly beautiful place. In this article, we take you to Sitges to meet Alvaro Alonso, who chose this scenic town as the home for his tattoo shop, Mano Eléctrica Tattoo. We visited the shop in the latest issue of Tattoo Life Magazine, diving deep into the world of Traditional tattooing in all its nuances, in a super chill atmosphere that feels like a permanent holiday.
“After 7 years tattooing in the centre of Barcelona and seeing how the tattoo scene became overcrowded, we decided it was time for a change, we needed fresh air and to get out of the chaos of the big city. That’s why we moved to Sitges!”
“We, the entire Mano Eléctrica team, live here and greatly enjoy Sitges, and we wanted our clients to also get to know and experience it, at least for a day while getting tattooed. This place really captivates you and envelops you with its good vibes. Beach, mountains, sports, good food, and now cool tattoos!
For people from nearby, coming to Sitges always means having a good day, but especially for our international clients, who are pleasantly surprised when they arrive in Sitges, walk through its streets, or simply enjoy a cold beer on one of its beaches. Moving to Sitges has definitely been a change for the better. Being here helps us stay more active and creative, and that shows in our work.”
The atmosphere at Mano Eléctrica is warm and welcoming, inviting everyone in, whether you’re tattooed or not. Their goal was to bring tattooing closer to everyone. The shop combines the aesthetic of a traditional tattoo shop, with artwork by artists worldwide adorning the walls, alongside a modern design.
Currently, in the studio there are five tattoo artists: Brian (@brianflorestattoo), Toni (@tdonire), Alex (@alex_sances_one), and Alvaro (@_alvarito_tattoo), who all lived in Sitges and previously worked together in Barcelona. When they decided to open the studio in Sitges, it was the perfect move for everyone. Later, Miku joined the team, fitting perfectly into Mano Eléctrica.
If you ever find yourself in the Barcelona area, feel free to stop by, say hello, and check out the shop—or maybe even get a new tattoo here!
