We’re in Australia, in the heart of Richmond, one train stop from the CBD of Melbourne, the capital of Victoria. A multicultural suburb that is also the sporting capital of Australia, it has a thriving nightlife and live music scene and a lot of great cafes and restaurants.
It is here in 1991 that Trevor McStay opened Dynamic Tattoo, a welcoming tattoo shop where the client’s ideas are the starting point for every piece of skin art created by the team in this famous Australian tattoo shop which does everything from Fine Line to body suits.
To welcome us there are Trevor with his good friend and co-worker Joel Ang who will take on the studio from now on, because as he says it is time to hand the studio over to someone who is younger and has the energy to keep the high standard that Dynamic tattoo is known around the world for.
Always following the motto: Serious Skin Art.
Dynamic Tattoo is a studio that welcomes clients to come in with their tattoo ideas, no matter how small, big or quirky. We ensure that each customer gets the right artist to help create their idea and then apply it to the skin in a comfortable and relaxing space – as Trevor says –.
There are three key aspects that are very important at this tattoo shop:
1. It’s crucial that everyone working in the studio gets along with each other.
2. Creative motivation and constructive criticism—bouncing ideas off each other to prevent stagnation and bringing out the best in the artist.
3. Finally, it’s essential that the customer has an enjoyable and informed experience when they visit the studio.
Currently the tattoo artists who are part of the team include: Daryl Lasken, Shane Wilcox, Ross Byfiled, Matt Mill. These artists bring a range of different art style so that all tattoo styles are covered at the shop, from fine line to full body suits.
