Imagining the future and paying homage to the great masters of Japanese illustration. Masters such as Soroyama, or Akira as futuristic examples. This is the artistic profile of Seoul-based tattoo artist Pisatche, who is passionate about robots and biomechanical forms from the future.
Hi Pisatche Let’s start to introduce you to our readers
Hello! My name is Pisatche and I’m a tattoo artist based in Seoul, South Korea and I have worked in my private tattoo shop for five years. I’ve loved doodling ever since I was a kid! And I even got in trouble for scribbling on the walls of my house! As a lover of drawing, I’ve learned art since high school and was attracted to the fact that my paintings could be tattoos kept on other people’s bodies forever! That’s when I fell in love with tattoos!
How can we describe your style?
I do biomechanical tattoos because this style is very close to my personal passions.
I noticed that you are very focused on this style and in particular your most recurring subjects are robots. Many of them remind precisely of those human robots from Japanese cartoons…
That’s right! I’ve been interested in this style since I was young, and I’ve been attracted by many mechanical and detailed things. That’s why I started getting tattoos in this style!
But I respect and like different expressions in tattooing. I have been interested in Japanese comics and animations since I was young!
Things like Akira, for example, the classic Japanese anime and artist like Sorayama had a big influence on me. I also like to imagine how the future will look like, so yes, I put my interests in tattoos to express myself!
Do you travel for your work?
I have always travelled a lot. Not many years ago I went to Japan with my parents and it was great for me being so passionate about so many aspects of this culture. For my work I haven’t travelled very much yet but it is something I promise myself to do and I hope to be able to do it soon.
Where would you like to go?
I have a dream to become a tattooist in New York!
And what is your dream for your career as a tattoo artist?
I hope I can return the love shown to me by the people who entrust their skin to me with my tattoos. I think it would be great if I could travel to many countries and have the possibility to do tattoos. I think travelling would definitely have a positive impact on my work from an artistic point of view, what do you think?
