The rabbit is a symbol of cleverness and self-devotion, and appears in myths. In old days, it was a symbol of Spring.
In Japan, the rabbit is considered almost like a spirit (kami). His image is often associated with great qualities such as courage and spirit of sacrifice, to the point that in a famous legend in China, Japan and Korea, the rabbit is given a place in the sky, reflected on the moon to be admired by everybody.
Statues at the entrance of temples, paintings and drawings from the Japanese tradition are dedicated to the rabbit. Its image recurs in Japanese manga and cartoons, stylized, sometimes demonic, aggressive and powerful.
And in the same way it can be found in tattooing, used in styles ranging from Neo traditional to Japanese, to realistic. Take a look at some interpretations of this subject made by international tattoo artists.
