We met him and interviewed him for his tattoo models shootings, dedicating a portfolio to him in the latest issue of Tattoo Life. But his great interest has always been music and live concerts where his lens manages to capture all the emotions of both the protagonists on stage and the fans.
“To me seeing an artist or band perform live is the greatest thing to experience for any fan who loves music. You can’t compare it to anything, to me it’s the ultimate live experience. There’s only so much about a live show that can be conveyed through words. You just don’t truly get that intensity of the fans in the crowd or the raw emotion of an artist on stage. As an artist through my photography I’m able to capture that intensity, that raw emotion. I’m not just out there snapping pics of my favorite band for my gram. I’m telling a story through my lens, capturing moments in time, sharing that live experience and most importantly creating memories for all us fans and it’s an honor”.
Growing up I never set out to be a music photographer or ever had any interest in doing anything within the music industry. I never even played an instrument that I took serious. Growing up I just wanted to go to shows all the time and see bands live and living just outside of NYC there was never a shortage of that.
I grew up as an artist. I’ve worked in different art fields the majority of my life. I always had an interest in photography, always had a basic camera around, nothing serious just point and shoots.
About 10 years ago I went out and bought a new digital camera right before I was going to meet up with my friends from the band Hollywood Undead to hit the road for a few days with them on tour.
While on the road one of my friends suggested I took some photos of them live, well needless to say the photos were complete shit. I had no clue how to operate the camera, I didn’t know any of the settings and had never shot any type of live show.
I literally bought the camera as I was on my way to meet the band at a venue in NYC. Once I got back home it was my goal to learn all the camera settings and how to shoot live for the soul purpose to only shoot my friends’ band. I didn’t care about shooting anyone else.
I just wanted to have fun with my friends on the road and take good photos. Through the whole learning process, which to this day I’m still going through, I completely fell in love with music photography and I never looked back.
