German tattoo artist Lass’ work is based on a tailor-made relationship with each of her clients. A connection that she defines as a dance, a silent but profound dialogue between herself and the client. It’s about tuning into their energy, understanding their vision, and allowing the process to flow organically.
Her creative repertoire includes botanical and ornamental elements, symbols of elegance and femininity, which flow over the body to become an integral part of it telling the story of the wearer. This philosophy extends to her studio, Allskins in Hamburg, a space that serves as a junction of energies from which magical things are born.
Lass, would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello! My name is Lass, and I am a tattoo artist originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of traveling and living in vibrant cultural hubs like Bali, Amsterdam, and now Hamburg, where I’ve found my artistic home. My work focuses on creating freehand botanical and ornamental tattoos exclusively for women—designs that not only enhance the natural beauty of the body but also carry deep personal meaning.
My passion lies in weaving art and emotion together, ensuring every tattoo is a reflection of the client’s inner strength and story.
It’s very nice the way you present yourself on your website: you say that tattooing is like a dance, feeling each other…
Thank you! That description captures the essence of how I approach tattooing. To me, every tattoo session is a collaboration—a silent but profound dialogue between myself and the client. It’s about tuning into their energy, understanding their vision, and allowing the process to flow organically, much like a dance. This connection ensures that the final piece isn’t just a design but an extension of their identity, created in perfect harmony with their emotions and the unique contours of their body.
What is your style like? How do you finalize it?
My style is best described as intuitive botanical and ornamental and symbolic, with a focus on elegance, femininity, and flow. Each design is tailored to the individual, enhancing their natural curves and celebrating their strength and beauty. One of my signature motifs is inspired by the rising sun — a symbol of empowerment, renewal, and light — which has become a recurring element in my work since 2021.
This signature style has since become a hallmark of my work, attracting women from diverse backgrounds who seek not only a tattoo but a deeply symbolic representation of their personal journey. My tattoos are more than body art; they are expressions of identity and courage, shaped by my own experiences across cultures and countries. With each design, I aim to celebrate femininity and honour the stories of the women I works with, creating pieces that are as enduring as they are elegant.
My work stands as an invitation for women to embrace their true selves, wearing their strength and beauty proudly.
Usually the process begins with an in-depth conversation with my client. I explore their ideas, inspirations, and what they want to express with their tattoo. From there, I create a custom design that resonates with their story. Finalizing the piece involves refining every detail, ensuring the placement complements their body perfectly. It’s an intimate and meticulous process, where every line has purpose and meaning.
How did you approach tattooing? Have you ever tested some other style?
My journey into tattooing was born from my love for art and the human connection it fosters. Initially, I explored various styles, from fine line to illustrative, to find my unique artistic voice. While I admire and respect many styles, I discovered my passion in ornamental tattooing. This approach allows me to blend precision with fluidity, creating designs that feel alive and deeply personal. I’ve never stopped experimenting within my own style, as evolution and growth are integral to my work.
It seems to reflect very well your personality: delicate, elegant, and flowing on the skin. What do you want to express in your art?
Thank you! My art is a celebration of femininity, strength, and individuality. Through my designs, I strive to empower women, giving them a way to express their identity and carry a piece of art that resonates deeply with their soul. I aim to create tattoos that feel timeless and harmonious—pieces that become an integral part of the person wearing them, not just something on their skin.
You are based in Hamburg (Germany). What is your studio like?
My studio in Hamburg “Allskins studios” is a reflection of my philosophy: warm, welcoming, and intimate. It’s designed to make my clients feel comfortable and at ease from the moment they step in. The space combines minimalism with artistic touches, featuring soft lighting, natural materials, and elements that inspire creativity. It’s not just a workplace; it’s a sanctuary where art and connection come to life.
Can you describe the approach you have with the clients who come to you?
Every client brings a unique story, and my approach is rooted in understanding and collaboration. I start by creating a safe and open space where they feel heard and valued. We discuss their ideas, the emotions behind the design, and the message they want the tattoo to convey. From there, I interpret their vision into a design that feels authentic to them. The tattooing process itself is calm and respectful, ensuring the client feels comfortable throughout.
My goal is for them to leave not just with a tattoo, but with an experience they’ll cherish.
You are a creative mind; you have your fashion brand and what more around your art?
Thank you for noticing! My creativity extends beyond tattooing into other forms of self-expression, including my fashion brand. It’s another way for me to explore the interplay of art and identity. Whether through textiles, tattoos, or other mediums, my focus is always on creating something meaningful and beautiful that empowers others.
Did you attend an art school? What is your background and how did you arrive to love tattoos?
While I didn’t attend a traditional art school, my artistic journey began early. I’ve always been drawn to creative expression, experimenting with various mediums throughout my life. My love for tattoos developed organically as I realized their potential to merge art and personal storytelling. It was a revelation to see how tattoos could transform and empower, and I knew this was the path for me.
What is your favorite art expression besides tattooing?
Aside from tattooing, I find immense joy in painting and designing. Painting allows me to explore emotions and abstract concepts in a way that feels liberating and intuitive. It’s a medium where I can play with colour, texture, and form without boundaries, often using it as a way to recharge and inspire my tattoo work.
