Daft Punk, “Within” a new sound experience

French duo’s “luckiest” album completely devoid of drums and percussion will be released on November 17. And we bet it will be as successful as ever.

Daft Punk’s 10-year celebration of ‘Random Access Memories’ – their fourth album released on 17 May 2013 through Columbia Records – sets the point with ‘Random Access Memories’ (Drumless Edition), out next November 17.

Following the May 2023 release of ‘Random Access Memories’ (10th Anniversary Edition), this new version of the Daft Punk legendary album removes all drum and percussion elements, bringing out a timeless quality and giving listeners the chance to dive deeper into the layers that make up each track.

‘Within (Drumless Edition)’ is the first track taken from the album. Deprived of the drums, this new version highlights the track’s timeless musical structure, and Chilly Gonzales’ piano acquires an even more reflective quality.

In operations related to the 10th anniversary of ‘Random Access Memories’, Daft Punk presented ‘Memory Tapes’, an inside look at the album’s creation by collaborators such as Julian Casablancas, Chilly Gonzales, DJ Falcon and Todd Edwards. Future episodes are planned with Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers, Paul Williams and Chris Caswell.

Interviews for ‘Memory Tapes’ were conducted at Henson Studios in Los Angeles and Gang Studios in Paris, in the spaces where much of ‘Random Access Memories’ was recorded and where the collaborators worked.

Each episode includes a new interview, archival footage and never-before-seen studio footage of Daft Punk as they made what later became their last album.

‘Random Access Memories’ (Drumless Edition) will be available next November 17 in the following formats: CD, double LP and digital, including the space audio version with Dolby Atmos (only on Apple Music).
