A great passion for the most authentic Traditional and a collection of tattoos inspired by Sailor Jerry’s flashes: she is Andrea – model, entrepreneur, content creator and co-founder of the Instagram @traditionalstattoos page.
Hi Andrea, would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello everyone, my name is Andrea Hidalgo, I’m 31 years old and I come from Spain, precisely Madrid!
How would you describe yourself picking only three adjectives?
Wow! Surely my friends would do this in two seconds, but being completely sincere nothing better to describe myself with straightforward, crazy and passionate.
When and how did your love story with tattoos start?
I have always been attracted to art, tattoos in particular, but my craziness about ink has begun at the same time of my relationship. I met my husband in London where I lived for 8 years and we both immediately influenced each other, and started to get inked. Beside that, our love and passion for traditional tattoos gave us the inspiration to create our IG page @traditionalstattoos.
Why is Traditional Style your greatest passion?
Easy one! Some around seven years ago, while getting tattooed in Madrid, my artist showed me a Sailor Jerry flash book: that was love at first sight! Fun fact I’m writing this on January 14, which is Norman Collins birthday (smiles).
What about your tattoos? Is there a favourite one? Or maybe one with a particular story to tell?
As now you can easily imagine I’m mostly covered with Sailor Jerry flashes… I don’t really have a favourite one to be honest, but I do have a passion for big cats, love tigers, panther etc etc… that’s why the big tiger I have on my forearm is a really special one for me. That being said, I’m in the process of getting my front piece finished from @loles_nn and I guess this will have big chances to became my all-time favourite one (smiles).
Is there any tattoo artist you’d like to mention? Any you would like to be tattooed by?
I would proudly mention @sayr135 which, a part of being a close friend of mine is the one that got me into traditional showing me the Sailor Jerry flash book!!! My favourite tattoo artists which I hope one day I could get tattooed by, are: Paul Dobleman, Andrea Giulimondi, Gaia Leone and Joe Tartarotti.
Any other passion, beside tattooing?
I have a degree in interior design, and I love everything related with creativity and art in many industries – like, vintage fashion, painting and photography. I must say that I’m a huge fan of Elvis Presley, so much that me and my husband got married in Vegas for the first time, both dressed up as Elvis and Marilyn.
Projects, dreams and hopes for the future?
One and only big Project called “Tiger Spit a tattoo aftercare which we have recently launched on the market. My only hope at the moment is to see this awful pandemic situation going away and to finally see the entire world getting back to normality.
